Euro eases off two-week high against dollar

Euro eased off a two-week high against the US dollar as investors took the opportunity to book profits after such a strong rally in the past three days. EURUSD has gained 2 percent this week, propelled by strong bond auctions in Spain and France on Thursday which boosted risk appetite and put the single currency on track for the biggest weekly gain in three months.

EURUSD hit 1.2985 early in the European session before sliding to 1.2887. Despite the decline, euro is expected to remain supported by the Greek debt talks which are still underway and investors are eagerly awaiting the outcome. So far, the likelihood of an agreement between Greece and the private sector securing a deal is quite high, as confirmed by Greek finance minister Evangelos Venizelos after a meeting on Thursday.Against the yen, the euro was down from a two-week high of 100.33 to 99.45, but still well off an an 11-year low of 97.04 yen on January 16.

GBPUSD reached a new two week high of 1.5500 right after the London session opened but soon tracked the decline of the euro and began to decline. Sterling dipped further after UK retail sales data. Despite numbers rising in line with expectations, many had hoped for stronger sales figures. Cable dipped to a session low of 1.545 before bouncing to 1.5486.

EUR/JPY Targeting 100 after Successful France and Spain Bond Auctions

Euro is lifted by successful bond auctions in France and Spain today. Recent recovery in common currency extends further with EUR/USD trading above 1.29 while EUR/JPY is also back above 99 level. Both are set to test 1.3 and 100 psychological level respectively. France successfully sold EUR 7.965b of 2014, 2015 and 2016 bonds today, near to maximum target of EUR 8b. Demand was solid with bid-to-cover ratio of 2014 bond at 2.12, 2015 bond at 3.42 and 2016 bond at 2.12. Yields were at 1.05%, 1.5% and 1.89% respectively, and were lower from similar auction last year. 

Euro akan mencoba menuju 1.3000 lagi, EUR/JPY juga berpeluang meraih level psikologis 100.

Hindari Saham Perbankan Minggu Ini

Hadi Suprapto dan Purborini  dari Vivanews hari ini Selasa, 14 Desember 2010,  menyarankan para trader dan investor di bursa saham untuk tidak melakukan buy saham perbankan. 

Saham perbankan diperkirakan masih akan terkoreksi akibat sentimen pemerintah China yang berencana menaikkan suku bunga acuan. Karena itu, Analis Reliance Securities Gina Novrina merekomendasikan investor untuk menghindari saham-saham di sektor ini.

Tingkat inflasi negara Tirai Bambu itu per November 2010 naik dari 5,1 persen menjadi 9,6 persen. Angka tersebut merupakan rekor inflasi tertinggi yang pernah dicapai China. Kondisi ini memaksa pemerintah China menaikkan tingkat suku bunga. Sebab, dengan inflasi 5,1 persen, suku bunga deposito perbankan China saat ini mencapai negatif 2,6 persen. 

Sementara itu saham otomotif diperkirakan kembali bergairah setelah mengalami jenuh-jual akibat isu pembatasan konsumsi bahan bakar minyak bersubsidi. Namun, sejumlah investor kini diperkirakan akan memburu saham otomotif menyusul penundaan kebijakan pembatasan BBM hingga akhir kuartal pertama 2011. 

Meski begitu Gina memperkirakan Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan hari ini akan mengalami kenaikan setelah ditutup melemah 60,95 poin (1,6 persen) ke 3.692,23 pada Senin kemarin. "IHSG akan kembali menguat," kata dia. Indeks saham diperkirakan akan bergerak pada 3.665- 3735.
